The Summer For Mom / Der Sommer für Mama

For Mother’s Day, I gave my mom this bracelet I call “The Summer”.

Meine Mutter bekam zum Muttertag dieses Jahr ein Armband, das ich “Der Sommer” nenne.

It is called Summer because it reminds me of turquoise, silver crested waves. The clasp made with a mother of pearl button suits the subjects of Mother’s Day as well as The Sea.

Es heißt Sommer, weil es an türkisfarbene, silbrig schaumgekrönte Wellen erinnert. Zu sowohl Muttertag als auch Meer passend ist es mit einer Schließe aus Perlmutt ausgestattet.

When I give someone a piece of jewelry, I like to do some research on the colors and materials used.

I found that turquoise is refreshing and cool, it symbolizes the sea and, like silver as well, stands for a clear head and a free soul. It also helps with clear communication and creativity.

The day of the week associated with turquoise (yes, there is a day of the week associated with turquoise) is Saturday – perfect for summery holiday feeling! 🙂

Wenn ich jemandem selbst gemachten Schmuck schenke, gebe ich immer ein kleines “Faltblatt” mit Informationen zu den verwendeten Farben oder Materialien dazu. Diese Beigabe soll dann ein bisschen erläutern, weshalb genau diese Person genau dieses Schmuckstück bekommt.

Türkis zum Beispiel ist erfrischend und kühl, es symbolisiert das Meer und steht, wie auch Silber, für einen klaren Kopf und die befreite Seele.  Außerdem hilft es bei Kommunikation und Kreativität.

Der mit Türkis assoziierte Wochentag (ja, sowas gibt’s) ist der Samstag. Beim Tragen des Armbands kann also gar nichts anderes aufkommen als Wochenends- und Urlaubsfeeling!
